Whole School National Day Competition
The school is going crazy with the celebrations of National Day. We will be holding a Drawing and Art National Day Competition for all students at DBS from Y1 to Y13.
The theme is to capture anything about the UAE; landmarks, the 7 Emirates, culture, traditions etc.
You will need to do this at home on an A4 size paper – remember to label it with your full name and class.
All art work should be returned to school bythe morning of Thursday 24th and there will be two prizes for the winners; one from Secondary and one from Primary.
The best 10 to 12 artworks will be displayed and the prize draw will happen on National Day.

Painting Workshops with Artist Dennis Hennessy November 2011
In 2005 Dennis Hennessy moved to Dubai, with his wife Karen and daughter Grace, from Birmingham in the West Midlands of England where he trained and practice as a fine Artist.
Dennis has exhibited his work widely in both solo and group shows and has lectured at some of Britain's finest Universities. He is now making art in the U.A.E. and has exhibited in Dubai and Abu Dhabi
As a parent Dennis started helping out with the DBS performances, painting 4 x 9 metre back drops and making props. He has painted over 20 on the same piece of canvas. Each painting would often be completed in 4 to 5 hours, both parents and students enjoyed seeing an artist at work and soon Dennis was asked if he would come in and talk about his work with the students.
This term Dennis is the Artist in residence at DBS and has been working with the students in the ECA Art Team, the results of which will soon be appearing through out the school.
Dennis has just completed his first workshop on painting and architectural landscape of Dubai introducing the students to his abstract paintings and his earlier work with the Birmingham landscape of 1990’s.
The students enjoyed using water colour techniques and painting without using brushes. It was great fun and some fantastic work was produced.
